Analysis of supply and demand models with unobserved heterogeneity remains a frontier area of research in econometrics, in applied industrial organisation, in public economics and in applied economics generally. Continuing a series of conferences on heterogeneity in econometric models started at Brown University in 2009, we are hosting a conference on econometric models of supply and demand with heterogeneity at Boston College in December 2016. The aim of the conference is to improve our theoretical and empirical understanding of consumer and supplier behaviour and the functioning of markets. The conference will bring together leading researchers working on the modelling and estimation of supply and demand to discuss research, ideas and new results. The conference welcomes research that emphasizes all aspects of supply and demand decisions ranging from static to dynamic, rational to boundedly-rational, discrete to continuous and everywhere in between. The conference welcomes applied work, theoretical econometric work and approaches that seek to exploit the very large data sources that are increasingly available. The unifying theme is a microeconometric approach to supply or demand analysis that allows for heterogeneity.
