Cross-sectional dependence is liable to invalidate simple rules of statistical inference based on independence assumptions and is frequently feared to arise in the modelling of cross-sectional or panel data in econometrics. Various approaches to modelling or correcting for cross-sectional dependence are possible. Factor models have been widely considered, as have models that reflect a spatial dimension. This workshop reflects some recent research relating to cross-sectional dependence.
